Pygmy Boats Queen Charlotte, a Greenland-style, high volume touring/expedition kayak
equipped with Feathercraft rudder.
LOA: 17’
Beam: 24”
Waterline Beam: 21”
Height @ cockpit: 12”
Cockpit: 16’ x 29”
Design Weight: 38 lbs
Wt. as built: ~ 42 - 45 lbs
Carrying capacity: 13.24 cu ft
Built: 1993

Material: 4mm waterproof (BS 1088) okoume plywood.
Construction: monohull, stitch and glue, epoxy saturated, sheathed in fibreglass,
taped seams.
Finishing: below chines - marine-grade enamel. Above chine and topsides - Z-Spar Captains Varnish.

Rudder pedals as shown.

A Legacy Design: Designer John Lockwood created the prototype for the Queen Charlotte kayak (Pygmy's first kayak kit) while living in the remote Queen Charlotte Islands, in 1972.

Fits Average Size Adults: The Queen Charlotte-Standard fits adults 5'5" to 6'2" who weigh up to 220 lbs. With a 24" beam and 17' length, she has average initial stability, with excellent secondary stability. Depth at cockpit, 12". Weighing only 40 lbs. makes her LIGHT to cartop and carry to water's edge. Due to lots of buoyancy in the upswept bow and stern, she's a very dry kayak in heavy weather.

Gear Capacity: A high volume touring boat, the QC-std will easily carry 120 lbs. of gear--enough for a 2 or 3 week trip. She also makes a great, light day-use boat as well.

Valued at $1,500 Current bid: $0

Donated By Private Donor - GR

Item pickup location: Must pick up Sunday night from Festival prior to 1800.

Tony Grove Print - "Raven"
Bring home a Grove print: "Raven"!

12" x 12" framed, ready to hang.

"Inspiration struck when stumbling across an old boat tucked away in an unused boat shed. Sunlight streamed through cracks in its siding, highlighting the dust in the air while casting streams of light and shadows over the worn wood and peeling paint of this sleeping beauty. Who built it, why was it built? How has necessity defined its shape and function?

As a boatbuilder and as a career, I have chosen to preserve old wooden boats. I’m fascinated by their historic value, an intrigue that draws me into a careful study of their build and design. Many of the boat images I create come from the inspiration of working on the vessels themselves, or of the historic role they played in the past.

Intrigued by the myriad of hulls shapes, styles and construction, I find true beauty, and then joy of artistic license, by using light and colour to capture the essence of the boats in my paintings." - Tony Grove

John Horton Print - "I Name This Place Desolation Sound"
Take a Horton print home: "I Name This Place Desolation Sound."

20" x 30", unframed.

'This work depicts an episode in the 3 summers that Captain Vancouver charted the Washington, British Columbia and Alaska coasts, during 1792, 1793 and 1794, and is one of over 50 that John has painted. Captain Vancouver arrived in Desolation Sound on the evening of the 25th of June. At daybreak they found themselves “about one half mile from the shores of a high rocky island surrounded by a detached and broken country whose general appearance was very inhospitable. Stupendous rocky mountains rise almost perpendicular from the sea.”' - John Horton
